01 / THE COMPLETE WORKFLOW

Keep the field record together.

JotCam keeps the photo and its context together, so you do not have to reconstruct the record later.

01CAMERA + IMPORT

Capture

Take a new photo or import an existing one with the field context you need.

02NOTES + MARKUP

Review

Add photo notes and markup to identify the relevant details.

03THREE-LEVEL STRUCTURE

Organize

Place the photo within the correct Project Profile, Project and Session.

04REPORTS + EXPORTS

Deliver

Create a Field Report, Photo Log, CSV export or KMZ export without uploading the project to a server.

02 / CAPTURE WITH CONTEXT

Capture with the context already attached.

A construction photo is easier to understand when the reader can see where it belongs, when it was taken and which way the camera faced. JotCam puts that context directly on the finished image.

Stamp Fields

✓ Date and time✓ Compass heading✓ Location — Decimal Degrees or UTM✓ Project or site label✓ Photo Notes

Customization

✓ Four stamp positions✓ S, M and L text sizes✓ Soft-shadow stamp style✓ Individual stamp field toggles
USEFUL WHEN

Documenting similar work areas · Returning weeks later · Sharing outside the original team · Recording large or linear sites

Location and compass information are generated by the device and are intended to provide field context, not survey-grade measurement.

03 / NOTES & MARKUP

Explain the observation while it is still fresh.

JotCam provides two types of notes. Photo Notes are stamped directly onto the finished photo, while Report Notes are included only in the PDF report. Both let you preserve useful context without forcing every detail onto the image.

Add notes during review or to imported photos, use reusable templates, see note length while writing, and annotate new or imported images in yellow, red or white. Notes preserve the factual observation; markup directs the reader to the relevant part of the image.

Markup tools let you point directly to a specific condition on the image. Add arrows, shapes, freehand lines or text in yellow, red or white so the reader can quickly see exactly what the note refers to.

↔Double-sided arrowShow a span, distance or relationship between two points
○CircleIsolate a small feature in a busy photograph
□RectangleIdentify an opening, panel, work area or larger feature
〰FreehandTrace an irregular boundary or add a quick indication
TTextAdd a concise label directly beside the relevant feature
DESIGNED FOR DEPENDABLE RECORDS

The finished image preserves the finished Photo Note.

Once an annotated photo is saved, its visible Photo Note becomes part of the finished image and cannot be quietly rewritten later. Report Notes remain separate from the image and appear only in the generated PDF report.

04 / ORGANIZATION

Organize repeat fieldwork without mixing the record.

Use the same familiar site names on every visit while keeping each date-specific record separate.

PROJECT PROFILEWestview Tower
PROJECTAugust 16 Site WalkSESSIONTower ASESSIONTower BSESSIONParkade
PROJECTAugust 23 Site WalkSESSIONTower ASESSIONTower BSESSIONParkade

Project Profile represents the overall job, client, property or long-running assignment.

Project represents a particular inspection, reporting date, site walk or work event.

Session represents a site, area, structure, discipline or photo grouping within that Project. Sessions are your “sites.”

The same Session name can be reused across Projects. “Tower A” on August 16 remains separate from “Tower A” on August 23, so repeated visits never mix together.

  • Project and Session filtering in History
  • Per-photo detail view
  • Bulk Session reassignment
  • Correct a photo assigned to the wrong Session
  • Finished-photo sharing

Choose the handoff that fits the work.

JotCam includes report and data-export options in the field workflow.

10 / COMMON QUESTIONS

Practical answers about how JotCam works.

Does JotCam work without internet?+

Core capture, import, stamps, notes, organization, markup and reporting features work locally without a network connection. Internet access is required to purchase, restore or occasionally validate Pro access.

What information can JotCam add to a photo?+

Configurable date, time, project or site label, Photo Note, Decimal Degrees or UTM coordinates, and compass heading in degrees and cardinal direction.

What are Custom Report Fields?+

Custom Report Fields let you define up to four labelled fields for job-specific information. Their values appear as labelled entries in PDF reports and as separate columns in CSV exports, reducing the need to transcribe field data later.

What is the difference between a Field Report and a Photo Log?+

The Field Report is the more detailed format for formal observations and findings. The Photo Log is a streamlined, photo-led visual record. Both support optional company branding.

Can I import existing photos?+

Yes. Existing photos can enter the organized workflow, receive notes and be marked up before the finished record is saved.

Can the same Session be used more than once?+

Yes. The same Session name can be reused in different Projects. Each instance remains separately stored beneath its own Project.

Where does JotCam store project information?+

Project information and photos are stored locally on the device and are not automatically uploaded to a JotCam cloud service. Limited purchase information is processed separately by Apple or Google and RevenueCat.

Are JotCam coordinates survey-grade?+

No. Device-generated coordinates and headings are contextual aids and should not replace approved survey methods where precise positioning is required.
