CAPTURE

Capture, Review and Save a Photo

Use JotCam focus, zoom, flash, torch and timer controls, then review a Photo Note, markup and stamps before saving a finished photo.

SUMMARY

Confirm the active Project and Session, frame and focus the subject, take the photo, review the stamp, add any Photo Note or markup, and tap Save Annotated Photo.

Before taking the photo

Confirm:

  • The correct Project Profile is active
  • The correct Project is active
  • The intended Session is selected
  • The visible project/site label is correct
  • Required stamp fields are enabled
  • Coordinates and heading appear reasonable, when used

Focus and zoom

Focus

Tap the camera preview where the main subject should be sharp.

Zoom

Use the zoom control near the shutter button or pinch the preview. When practical, moving closer usually preserves more detail than heavy digital zoom.

Use camera tools

Tap the sliders button in the upper-left of the Camera screen.

Flash

Choose Off, Auto or On. Flash affects the captured photo.

Torch

Turn Torch on to keep the device light active while framing the shot.

Timer

Choose Off, 3 seconds or 10 seconds. The timer is useful when the device must remain stable or be positioned away from the user.

Capture the photo

Tap the large shutter button. JotCam opens the review screen after capture.

The image has not been permanently saved yet.

Review the result

Check:

  • The subject is sharp and clearly visible
  • The stamp does not cover the important feature
  • Project, date and location context are correct
  • The photo belongs to the intended Session
  • No unintended people or confidential information appear in the frame

Retake the photo immediately if it is blurred, badly exposed or missing necessary context.

Save the finished record

Tap Save Annotated Photo.

JotCam:

  • Creates a new JPEG with the stamp, Photo Note and markup burned into the image
  • Saves the finished image to the device’s photo library or gallery
  • Adds the record to JotCam History
  • Associates it with the active Project and Session

Expected result

Open History and confirm that the finished record appears beneath the intended Project and Session. Open the device gallery or photo library to confirm the finished JPEG was also saved there.
