Open Settings, turn on only the context needed for the work, choose the coordinate format, aspect ratio, stamp corner and text size, then return to Camera. Changes save automatically.
Choose the visible stamp fields
JotCam can place the following information on a newly captured photo:
- Date
- Time
- Direction: cardinal direction such as N, SE or W
- Degrees: numeric compass heading
- Coordinates: device-generated GPS location
- Project/site label
Use only the fields that help someone understand or relocate the observation. Too much visible information can compete with the subject.
Set the project/site label
Enter a short, recognizable label such as:
Westview Tower - Tower A
The label is visible on new photos when the setting is enabled. It can also be edited quickly from the Camera screen by tapping the project label near the top.
Leave it blank when no visible project label is required.
The visible project/site label is not a substitute for the Project Profile → Project → Session structure used to organize records in JotCam.
Choose a coordinate format
Decimal Degrees
Useful for general mapping, web maps and systems that accept latitude and longitude.
Example:
50.98765° N, 114.01234° W
UTM
Useful for fieldwork and project systems that use Universal Transverse Mercator coordinates.
Example:
11U 704820E 5651240N
The selected format affects the live camera overlay, finished stamp and History details.
Coordinates come from the device and are intended as field context. They are not survey-grade measurements.
Choose the photo aspect ratio
- 4:3: uses more of the camera sensor’s standard image area and is usually the best general-purpose choice.
- 16:9: creates a wider-format image that may suit broad scenes or wide displays.
The setting applies to new photos.
Choose the stamp placement
Select:
- Top left
- Top right
- Bottom left
- Bottom right
Choose a corner that leaves the subject unobstructed. If the work area is visually busy, take a moment to review the live overlay before capturing.
Choose the text size
- Small
- Medium
- Large
Use a size that remains readable in the expected handoff. A stamp that looks adequate on the device may become small when placed into a multi-photo report.
Camera tools
Camera tools are opened from the sliders button in the upper-left of the Camera screen.
Flash
- Off
- Auto
- On
Flash affects the captured image.
Torch
Torch keeps the device light on while framing the shot. It is useful in dark rooms, cabinets or concealed areas.
Timer
- Off
- 3 seconds
- 10 seconds
The timer delays capture after the shutter is pressed.
Expected result
Return to Camera and confirm that the live overlay shows the selected information in the intended corner and size.
